“The person who removes a mountain begins by carrying small stones.” - Chinese Proverb
Hello and welcome. First and foremost, I want to commend your strength and courage in taking steps towards your journey. Whether you’re trying to decide if psychotherapy is the right fit for you, have decided and are looking to choose a therapist or looking to return to therapy, it takes courage and strength to acknowledge that you might need additional support. Making the decision to go outside your usual support system is a big decision and a scary one, but it might also be the life changing decision that you need at this time to further take care of yourself.
If you have any questions for me, think we might be a good fit or you would like to determine if we might be a good fit, don’t hesitate to call me. I offer a free 10-minute phone consultation. I am bilingual in English and Spanish and provide psychotherapy to adults, couples and families.
Most importantly, I value the relationship between therapist and client. I focus on getting to know you and establishing a safe, healthy, comfortable, and supportive relationship. My approach in therapy is strength based, combining warmth, sincerity, compassion and respect. Along with pulling therapy strategies from various theories of personality and counseling, I work with you to take your unique experiences and needs to develop an individualized healing roadmap that will facilitate your goals in therapy. My integrated approach is most influenced by:
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy: This approach emphasizes the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and teaches tools and strategies to interrupt negative thought patterns and behaviors that are consequently impacting how we feel.
Psychodynamic Therapy: This approach looks at how one’s early experiences affect current feelings about oneself and current relationships. Oftentimes when we feel caught in repetitive thought and behavioral patterns that do not facilitate growth and joy, it can be useful to explore how we made sense of early life experiences.
Mind-Body /Mindfulness Therapy: This approach emphasizes calming the mind and body and has tools and strategies that teach how to be fully present in the moment in order to experience a greater sense of tranquility. Self-Compassion Therapy: This approach teaches understanding, acceptance and love for one self. It emphasis obtaining a sense of self-worth and acceptance of one’s own flaws.
