Over the course of my many years as a Marriage Family Therapist, I have counseled individuals, families and couples and have developed “treatment plans” to address various symptoms and issues that impact daily functioning and interrupt “normal development”.
What I have found important, in the initial stages of therapy, was to identify areas that are difficult to define and talk about, and create a framework in which makes sense to the client and other family members, when included.
During the course of therapy, the client is asked to share thoughts about their struggles and to express how he/she might feel regarding making changes and replacing old patterns with new ones. Additionally, therapeutic work includes, adopting new communication and coping skills, and learning how self-awareness helps to take more “control” over one’s emotions. Most importantly, freeing oneself and themselves from maladaptive beliefs, that once was useful, but presently no longer assists with daily goals or helping develop new insights into one’s future.
I am hoping to continue helping others, become their unique, empowered selves, through their individuality, families, and couple dynamics. Please feel free to reach out to me, for questions or recommendations.
Clinical Background: After graduating from College with my Master’s Degree. I worked as a Social Worker for 5 years, assisting Foster parents, in Parenting and behavioral issues with their foster children.
My Next Clinical job, (for 6years) was working as an Outpatient therapist, seeing minors and their parents, and developing a case plan to assist with all areas of emotional and social concerns.
Most recently, I have been a School Therapist, for a high school district, which included being a part of an IEP team, providing counseling support to students and their families. This has been for 17 years.
Additionally, I have been working in a Private Practice setting, for 17 years as well, and have experienced a wide variety of clients and their presenting problems.
I have a Master’s degree in Counseling and I have been licensed for 16 years. I also have a Credential as a School-Psychologist and versed in test practices and applications.
