ABOUT

Working as a Clinical Supervisor and Therapist in a collaborative private practice setting, I provide guidance and supervision to my team of professionals who offer specialized counseling services to individuals, couples, groups, families, teens and young adults. My areas of expertise include Alcohol Abuse, Eating Disorders, Grief and Loss, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders, Anxiety and Depression, and school related difficulties. When working with clients, my therapeutic approach is primarily Client Centered/Cognitive Behavioral; focusing on the individual while challenging dysfunctional emotions, maladaptive behaviors, and cognitive processes through a number of goal-oriented applications. It is my goal to find the best possible approach for each person; to facilitate their return to emotional balance, enabling them to enjoy their life once more. My years of experience working in both clinical and educational climates has given me a sharpened awareness and a high degree of empathy for individuals facing difficulties, as well as an opportunity to assist them as they gain the insight and confidence needed to find solutions to their problems. Additionally, my colleagues apply an array of modalities based on their clients' areas of need, including but not limited to: Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Humanistic Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

SERVICES

  • Are you dealing with the stress of everyday life challenges, and need some empathy and support? In my tenure as a therapist I have learned that anxiety and depression can be devastating, and sometimes immobilizing. Relationship difficulties at home or work can diminish your ability to experience the goodness in your life. Divorce, death, job loss, or other life challenges may leave you feeling empty and hopeless. Whether your problems are evidenced at work, school, or familial relationships, it is my goal to work with you in a collaborative, interactive environment that provides ongoing feedback, as well as suggestions for activities between appointments. I will provide support in exploring your emotional wounds, aid you in the healing process, and help you to regain your sense of inner peace.
  • Are you a pre-teen, teen, or young adult struggling with academic achievement, goal setting, and/or school related anxiety? I can help! I have spent the past 20 years instructing and counseling students with special needs. My extensive education and experiential background in the field of Special Education make me uniquely qualified to identify and empathize with your areas of need in the framework of school performance.
  • Are you battling alcohol abuse or other substance-related addictions? My experience, education and licensure have afforded me with an understanding and affinity for those suffering from addiction. My background has given me an opportunity to assist in the psycho education and modification of destructive thinking patterns involved when experiencing alcohol related difficulties, and the formation of positive coping strategies. I would love to work with you so you can adopt new strategies and improve the quality of your life.
  • Are you a therapist in training who needs personal therapy hours to fulfill BBS related requirements? I provide personal therapy to MFT Trainees and Interns at an affordable cost so that you can develop yourself personally and professionally.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

I posses a Master of Arts in Special Education from California State University, Northridge. Special Education is a specially designed instruction for students with exceptional learning needs. The field of special education addresses the needs of students who have disabilities and students who are identified as gifted or talented. My degree has prepared me as a highly qualified special educator to serve culturally and linguistically diverse learners. Additionally, I have been awarded with a Master of Arts in Educational Psychology, Counseling, and Guidance from California State University, Northridge. My training reflects a heuristic and developmental life-span approach to theory, research, and practice centered on the study and application of major concepts and skills from counseling, early childhood education, educational psychology, and psychological foundations of education.
