“Healing takes time and asking for help is a courageous step.” – Mariska Hargitay
About me:
I was drawn to psychology all the way back in elementary school and have always had a strong desire to help others. I pursued this interest into college and graduated with my Bachelor’s in Psychology from Cal State Northridge in 1999, earning a Summa Cum Laude distinction. After earning my Bachelor’s degree, my focused slightly shifted. For graduate school, I pursued Clinical Social Work. I graduated with my Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from Cal State University Los Angeles in June 2007. I have been a practicing clinician since that time. In addition, I am now a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and have been licensed since October 2016. In my 14 years of experience, I have worked with children (including birth – age 5), adolescents, individuals, and families. I am certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP). I was also trained in and have many years of experience in Managing and Adapting Practices (MAP).
Therapeutic Approach:
I have a strong background in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and utilize a client-centered, strength-based approach to address the unique and individual needs of each of my clients. I strive to develop a strong therapeutic alliance and positive rapport with my clients as this helps to facilitate the most change throughout the therapy process. I utilize collaborative treatment planning so that clients feel that their needs and goals are being heard and addressed.
