I can be changed by what happens to me, but I refuse to be reduced by it.
-Maya Angelou
About me:
I have always had a natural calling towards the field of psychology since high school and have always wanted to help those who I felt did not have a voice. I pursed this calling and earned a master’s of science degree in counseling psychology with an emphasis in marriage and family therapy and a specialization in family mediation from California Lutheran university. I also have a supporting bachelor’s degree in psychology from California Lutheran University. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist and have range of experience in working with children (including birth – age 5), adolescents, adults, and couples.
Therapeutic approach:
I have an eclectic approach and utilize various therapeutic approaches to help an individual. I believe that therapy may not always be a one size fits all but should be tailored to what that person needs at that point in time. I utilize a person-centered approach, cognitive behavioral therapy, family systems therapy and attachment theory. I have been trained and certified in theraplay for children and families and I have experience and training in cognitive behavioral therapy. I also utilize a trauma informed lens when working as I believe understanding someone’s trauma is important in helping provide physical and emotional symptom relief. Life is quite a journey and I hope to be a safe, non-judgmental, and supportive person to help process the many ups and downs that come with this journey.
